SC Villa have kick-started their preparations for the 2026/27 season by unveiling promising midfielder John Asiimwe as their first signing of the transfer window.
The 20-year-old arrives from city rivals Express FC, where he spent the last two seasons establishing himself as one of the club’s emerging talents.
Comfortable operating both in central midfield and on the wings, Asiimwe is expected to bolster Villa’s options following the departure of several key players during the off-season.

His arrival comes at a crucial time for the record league champions, who are rebuilding after losing influential figures, including Hassan Mubiru and Elvis Ngonde.
Asiimwe first came into the spotlight through Prosper Soccer Academy before representing Bukedea Comprehensive School in the USSSA Games. His impressive performances also earned him a place in Uganda’s U-17 national team, the Cubs, that competed at the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

SC Villa will hope the youngster’s energy, versatility and potential can help fill the void left by the outgoing players as the Jogoos look to mount a stronger challenge when the new Uganda Premier League campaign kicks off in August.
The signing signals the start of Villa’s recruitment drive, with more additions expected in the coming weeks as the club reshapes its squad ahead of the new season.
