In preparation for the upcoming 6th Edition of the National Kabaddi Secondary Schools Championship under USSSA in Gulu, a successful capacity-building session for kabaddi umpires was held at Ridgeway Grammar School.
The training attracted 23 participants, all committed to enhancing their knowledge and officiating skills ahead of the national games.
The session focused on key areas essential for effective match officiating.
Participants received comprehensive rule briefings to ensure consistency in interpretation and application of the game’s regulations.

Signal reviews were conducted to reinforce clear and accurate communication during matches, while detailed discussions on the rules of play helped refresh the umpires’ understanding of different game situations. In addition, fitness assessments were carried out to evaluate the physical readiness of the officials, recognizing the importance of maintaining high fitness standards for quality officiating.

The training proved to be highly productive, equipping the umpires with the confidence, knowledge, and physical preparedness needed to officiate at the highest level. With the capacity-building exercise successfully completed, the officiating team is in excellent shape and fully prepared to deliver fair, professional, and high-quality officiating during the 6th Edition of the National Kabaddi Secondary Schools Championship in Gulu under the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA).
