Valley of Destiny Junior School were crowned champions of the 2026 ELSA Africa Schools Quadball Tournament after delivering a standout performance against tournament hosts Kololo Senior Secondary School in a tense final clash.
The grassroots tournament brought together students, educators, and sports enthusiasts to showcase young talent while building momentum for quadball across Ugandan educational institutions.
Beyond the on-pitch action, the event served as an important platform for key stakeholders to chart a path forward for quadball’s grassroots development in the country.
Visiting international player Alvaro Gallego Poeta, representing Spain’s Barcelona Eagles, conducted a technical session highlighting the latest rule updates from the official International Quadball Association (IQA) rulebook.
The briefing aimed to keep local coaches, referees, and players aligned with global standards as the sport gains traction regionally.

Participating teachers and school officials urged the IQA and regional sports bodies to increase structural support—particularly in technical coaching, certified officiating, and grassroots equipment provision—to ensure schools can establish sustainable quadball programs.
Serving as Chief Guest, Madam Carmen praised organizers ELSA Africa for creating dynamic platforms that encourage youth participation in emerging sports.
“Initiatives that expose young people to diverse sports disciplines are vital for talent discovery, building self-confidence, and fostering long-term athletic development,” she is quoted saying by Uganda New Line during the closing ceremony.
With local interest continuing to rise, organizers and educators agreed that regular school competitions, paired with continuous technical training, will be essential to expanding quadball’s reach across Uganda and Africa.Valley
