The 2024/25 Uganda Premier League second round returns today as with Vipers SC missing three of their most important players as they host tricky URA FC at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende floodlights.
Vipers’ coach, Fred Muhumuza has confirmed forward Skipper Milton Karisa, playmaker Marvin Joseph youngman and left back Derrick Ndahiro are all out.
New signing Youngman won’t be available for his debut return as he still serves his one match suspension for a red card he got while still at Soltilo Bright Stars FC against Express FC.
Ndahiro won’t be available as he continues to serve the second of his last match suspension following his sending-off at Bombo Military Grounds against UPDF FC.
Milton Karisa returned to training as he continues to recover from a muscle issue (partial tear of the quadriceps femoris muscle) and has since undergone a month of rehab. However he took a significant step towards returning to first-team.
However forward Yunus Sentamu, who missed the game against Maroons FC at St Mary’s Stadium, is available again after serving his one-match suspension for accumulating three yellow cards.
Another new signing, Isaac Ogwang is in-line to make his debut after being named in the 23-man squad for tomorrow’s encounter.
Vipers are Uganda Premier league table leader with 34 points while URA lie fifth on the log with 24 points accumulated after 15 matchdays.
Vipers won the first around encounter with a comfortable 2-0 over the Tax Collectors. Goals were scored by Allan Okello and Milton Karisa.
“No strings attached it’s the nature of our job. First game will be tricky but the boys will pick themselves up its Vipers SC every game matters,” Muhumuza said.
“Second round is so tricky and demands total commitment with teams fighting for survival, bragging rights and good positions. Every game is a final and we expect tougher moments but the lads know what’s at stake. We have done our homework and trained a lot for over two weeks, so we are satisfied with our preparation.”
