SC Villa’s unbeaten home record came to an end today as they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Maroons FC in the Uganda Premier League at Wankulukuku Stadium.

The visitors took an early lead in the 10th minute through Raymond Walugembe. Despite SC Villa’s efforts to equalize, they struggled to break down Maroons’ defense. The match was sealed in the 80th minute when former Villa player, Abel Michael Eturude scored the second goal for Maroons, securing a notable away victory.

This result marks a significant shift, as SC Villa had been unbeaten in their previous home matches this season. The loss also affects their position in the league standings, where they dropped ninth with 24 points while Maroons moved eighth with 27 points.

This was Villa’s consecutive defeat having earlier lost 2-0 to UPDF before they went to face Maroons.

Maroons FC’s disciplined performance and clinical finishing were key factors in their triumph, while SC Villa will need to regroup and address the shortcomings that led to this unexpected home defeat.
