The Uganda U17 girls’ national team, the Teen Cranes, saw their 2025 U17 Women’s World Cup dream come to an end after falling 3-0 to Kenya in the second leg at Nyayo Stadium. The result sealed a 5-0 aggregate victory for Kenya, eliminating Uganda from the qualifiers.

Coming into the match with a two-goal deficit from the first leg, Uganda needed a strong performance to overturn the tie. However, Kenya proved too strong, dominating from the start and adding three more goals to their tally.

A brace from Brenda Achieng and other from Patience Asiko was enough to give Kenya a comfortable second leg victory.

Despite showing fighting spirit, the Teen Cranes struggled to break down Kenya’s defense and were unable to capitalize on their few attacking opportunities.

Head coach Sheryl Botes had expressed optimism before the game, but her side couldn’t match the clinical finishing of the Kenyan team.

With this victory, Kenya advances to the next round, where they will face Cameroon. Meanwhile, Uganda’s U17 team will have to regroup and look ahead to future tournaments to rebuild and improve.
