Wakiso Giants in do-or-die clash against KCCA FC

Wakiso Giants face a critical showdown with KCCA FC on Saturday, needing nothing less than a win to keep their slim survival hopes alive.

Their fate, however, also hinges on the result between Mbarara City and Lugazi FC. A victory for Mbarara City would confirm Wakiso’s relegation, rendering the outcome at Lugogo meaningless.

Wakiso remain deep in the relegation zone after a 0-1 defeat to Mbarara City, and time is fast running out. Only a win and a helping hand from Lugazi FC can keep them in the fight with two games left.

KCCA FC, meanwhile, will be aiming to bounce back after a 2-2 draw with SC Villa. The Kasasiro Boys boast a strong record against Wakiso Giants, including a 2-1 win in their last encounter, where Etienne Katenga and Emmanuel Anyama found the net. Hudson Mbalire was Wakiso’s lone scorer that day. In a previous clash at Lugogo, KCCA cruised to a 4-0 victory.

“We’re up against a side fighting for their lives, so we expect them to come hard at us,” said interim coach Jackson Magera.

“The games are coming thick and fast, but we’re coping well. We’ll miss Nsibambi, Muhamud, and Katenga, but the rest are fit and ready.”

If Wakiso secures a win and Mbarara loses, the gap to safety narrows to just three points with two rounds to play.

KCCA, currently fifth with 44 points, are also under pressure. A win keeps them steady, but a loss could see them slide to eighth depending on other results.

Emmanuel Anyama, who has scored back-to-back braces, will be KCCA’s key man once again.
