As East Africa readies to host its first-ever major continental football tournament, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled a striking new trophy for the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) PAMOJA 2024, blending symbolism, style, and continental pride.

The reveal, which featured football legends Victor Wanyama (Kenya), Denis Onyango (Uganda), and Mrisho Ngasa (Tanzania), marks a significant cultural and sporting moment ahead of the CHAN tournament that will run from August 2 to 30, 2025, jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

The newly redesigned trophy is at the heart of a broader rebranding campaign by CAF. Its bold form features a fusion of gold and silver, symbolising both achievement and aspiration. At its centre, a map of Africa anchors the design, while 54 etched lines spiral around its body, each one representing a CAF member nation, a quiet but powerful nod to the shared identity and diversity that African football thrives on.

CAF says the redesign reflects more than aesthetics — it’s a statement of evolution. CHAN, once seen as a secondary tournament, has matured into a vital showcase of homegrown talent. The new look, identity, and trophy are meant to reinforce that narrative.

The reveal also signals the growing importance of CHAN, which features only players active in domestic leagues. For the host nations, PAMOJA 2024 offers more than the chance to compete, it’s an opportunity to shine on the continental stage and ignite a new era of football growth in the region.

With the countdown to kick-off already underway, the unveiling of the trophy brings fresh energy and anticipation to a tournament poised to be as symbolic as it is competitive. In a year where East Africa finally takes centre stage, the new CHAN trophy stands as both a prize to be lifted and a story waiting to be written.
