Uganda head coach Morley Byekwaso is clear about one thing ahead of Monday night’s CHAN Group C clash with Niger at the Mandela National Stadium — the plan that beat Guinea will not simply be copied and pasted.
“No game is the same,” Byekwaso stressed. “Each match presents its own challenges. We’ll keep the structural discipline that worked for us, but we must adjust to Niger’s style. Those who gave their best will be recognised, but tactics have to shift.”
For Byekwaso, the key is flexibility — reading the opponent, responding quickly, and trusting his squad to execute a new approach under pressure. And he knows the home crowd could tip the scales.
“In the game against Guinea, the fans were incredible. We repaid them with a win. This time, we need them in even greater numbers because this match could decide our qualification hopes.”
Uganda have a fully fit squad, with final selections to be confirmed after medical checks. Defender Gavin Mugweri Kizito has already sounded the alarm against complacency.
“We were also coming from a defeat after our first game. It would be dangerous to think Niger will be easy. We’re mentally, physically, and technically prepared — and keeping a clean sheet is as important as winning.”

On the other side, Niger coach Harouna Doulla is rallying his team to respond after their opening loss. His formula: discipline, pressure, and belief.
“We must correct our mistakes and use our strengths. The Ugandan fans will be loud, but we will contain that pressure and fight with spirit. It’s time to write a new story.”
Niger’s captain, Abdoul Kahar Issoufou Boubacar, is urging calm but confident play.
“We prepared well for this match. We’ll be cautious and avoid mistakes, but in Niger, we say nothing is impossible — and we believe it.”
Monday’s contest is not just about who runs harder or tackles harder. It is about who adapts faster, stays calmer, and executes under the weight of expectation. For Uganda, victory could seal their rise toward the knockout stage. For Niger, it could be the spark of a remarkable recovery.
In a game where the crowd will roar, the pressure will bite, and every detail matters, it is the team with the clearest mind that may keep their CHAN dream alive.
