URA FC have reinforced their coaching department under head coach Alex Isabirye by naming veteran tactician Edward Golola as the club’s new first assistant coach. The highly experienced trainer has already begun work with the squad as preparations intensify for the upcoming campaign.

Born on December 22, 1971, Golola brings decades of expertise to the Tax Collectors, combining academic grounding with top-level coaching credentials. He studied at Lubiri Secondary School and Nakasero, before pursuing coaching certifications. A fluent communicator in English, Swahili, and Luganda, he is well-equipped to manage diverse football environments.

His coaching résumé is outstanding. Golola holds a UEFA coaching license (Germany), a CAF B license, and a Youth Coaching Certificate—credentials that allow him to handle both senior and youth development roles effectively.

Golola’s career kicked off at Kampala Citizen FC (2001–2003), before rising to prominence with Vipers SC, where he delivered historic success. He guided the Venoms to their maiden Uganda Premier League title in 2008, added another in 2009/10, and clinched the Uganda Cup in 2016. His stellar work earned him the Azam Premier League Best Manager award (2014/15).

Beyond club football, Golola also built a remarkable legacy in schools’ competitions, winning three Buganda regional titles, nine National Secondary School crowns, and nine East African School Championships. He later added the Pilsner Super 8 trophy in 2017/18, further cementing his status as a proven winner.

Now at URA FC, Golola is expected to complement Isabirye’s leadership with tactical depth and a strong track record of nurturing talent. Club insiders believe the partnership could be key in pushing the Tax Collectors closer to domestic glory.
