The ForteBet Real Stars Sports Awards for the month of September were held today at Lazio Restaurant in Kololo, celebrating the country’s top sports achievers and honoring both current stars and legends of Ugandan sport.

In motorsport, the MOIL Rally Team crew of Yasin Nasser and Ali Katumba were crowned the best after their historic victory at the 2025 African Rally Championship in Morogoro, Tanzania. The duo outperformed fellow nominees Ronald Ssebuguzi and Julius Ssemambo to claim the top accolade.

In football, Hillary Mukundane of Vipers SC took home the award after a standout month in which he scored a crucial away goal against African Stars of Namibia and helped his team seal a 2–0 aggregate win to qualify for the second round of the CAF Champions League. He edged out teammate Allan Okello and SC Villa’s Ibrahim Kasinde for the honour.

The boxing award went to Muzamir “King Kong” Kakande, who was recognized for his remarkable triumph in the British Commonwealth Silver Super Welterweight title fight against Briton Kevin Reavell. Kakande stopped his opponent in the ninth round to extend his professional record to 13 wins, one loss, and one draw. He was represented at the event by his wife, Aminah Kakande.

The ceremony also included a Lifetime Achiever’s Award, which went to two-time Olympian and veteran weightlifter Ali Kavuma. A respected coach who served between 1990 and 2003, Kavuma reflected on the growth of the sport, noting that despite previous decline, athletes like Davis Niyoyita continue to inspire the next generation. He expressed gratitude to the awards’ sponsors and the media for their continued support in promoting sports in Uganda.
