BUL v Express

After seasons of promise without consistency, BUL FC appear to have finally found the right rhythm — and today’s clash with Express FC at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru, offers another chance to prove their growing maturity.

The Eastern Giants have been quietly efficient this campaign, unbeaten in four matches and sitting second on the Uganda Premier League table with eight points. More than their results, however, it’s the way they’ve managed games organised, composed, and defensively assured that has caught attention.

Coach Kikomeko

Head coach Abbey Kikomeko seems to have built a side that values structure as much as flair. BUL have conceded only once all season, a testament to their improved game management, while their attack continues to click through the vibrant pairing of Seiri Arigumaho and Ibrahim Mugulusi, who have netted twice each.

A win today would temporarily lift BUL to the top of the table on 11 points, ahead of Buhimba United Saints, who play SC Villa tomorrow.

For Express FC, the challenge is to rediscover their edge in front of goal. The Red Eagles created plenty of chances in their narrow 1–0 defeat to KCCA FC last week but lacked the clinical touch, with Rashid Kawawa and Richard Basangwa both missing clear opportunities.

Express’ Ismael Kawaka.

Express’ inconsistent run one win, one draw, and two defeats has left them in seventh place with four points. Head coach Badiru Kaddu knows his side must be sharper if they are to upset an increasingly confident BUL team.

When these sides last met in Njeru, they shared the spoils in a 1–1 draw, and Express will hope for a similar result or better to halt BUL’s charge.

Elsewhere, NEC FC visit Mbarara City at Kakyeka Stadium still searching for their first win of the season, while Kitara FC, buoyed by their 3–2 derby triumph over Mbarara, host Lugazi FC at Royal Park Butema in Hoima City.
