Calvary FC has begun the search for a new head coach following the sudden departure of Jimmy Kintu Mwera, marking yet another managerial shake-up in the early stages of the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League season.
The West Nile-based side confirmed on Monday, November 10, that Kintu had left his role “by mutual consent,” ending a brief but difficult stint in charge. The announcement came through the club’s official social media pages, accompanied by a message thanking the tactician for his service and wishing him well in his future pursuits.

Behind the polished statement, however, lies a deeper struggle. Sources close to the team revealed that both the coach and players have gone four months without pay — a financial strain that has reportedly disrupted morale and performance in the camp. Kintu is said to have grown increasingly frustrated with the situation, eventually deciding to step down.
The club’s rocky start to life in the top flight has only added to the turmoil. After five matches, Calvary remain winless, having lost four and drawn once. Their poor run has left them rooted near the bottom of the table, with pressure mounting ahead of their upcoming clash against UPDF on Wednesday, November 19.

Kintu’s exit makes him the second coaching casualty of the season after NEC parted ways with Hussein Mbalangu earlier this month.
As Calvary turns its focus to finding a replacement, the challenge for whoever takes over is daunting — restoring discipline, lifting morale, and somehow sparking a revival in a team still searching for its first victory among the country’s elite.
