AFC Leopards ended their 2025 campaign on a high note, securing a crucial 1-0 away victory against Bidco United to climb to second place in the Kenya Premier League (KPL) standings.
The win places the “Ingwe” level on 24 points with league leaders and eternal rivals Gor Mahia, setting up an explosive start to the second leg of the season.

Mbaja the Hero, Nyongesa the Provider
The breakthrough came courtesy of Samuel Semo Mbaja, who found the back of the net in the 29th minute to give the visitors the lead. The goal was masterfully set up by Brian Ojok Nyongesa, whose brilliant assist provided the clinical finish Leopards needed to dismantle a stubborn Bidco defense.
Despite several attempts from both sides to alter the scoreline in the second half, Leopards held firm to ensure they claimed all three points in their final fixture of the year.

Ugandan Duo Sidelined
Notably, AFC Leopards coach Fred Ambani opted not to utilize his Ugandan contingent for this clash. Both goalkeeper Ssetuba and striker Samuel Ssenyonjo remained on the bench as the tactician relied on his starting XI to see out the result.

The Title Race Heats Up
With this victory, the battle at the summit of the KPL table has become a “Mashemeji” affair. Both Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards sit atop the log with 24 points, though Gor Mahia maintains a slight edge with a superior goal difference of +7 compared to Leopards’ +5.
KPL Table Standings (End of 2025):
- Gor Mahia 24 points, +7
- AFC Leopards 24points +5
- Tusker FC 24 points, +2
- Shabana FC 23 points, +5
- Kenya Police FC 22 points, +2
- Kakamega Homeboyz 21 points, +3.
The result leaves Bidco United in 15th place with 14 points, hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone as the league takes its mid-season break.
