RABAT, Morocco – The 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations kicked off Sunday with a clinical 2-0 victory for hosts Morocco against Comoros at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.

Despite a stubborn Comorian defense and a first-half penalty save by goalkeeper Yannick Pandor, the Atlas Lions broke the deadlock in the 55th minute through Real Madrid’s Brahim Díaz, who was later named Man of the Match.

The highlight of the evening came in the 74th minute when substitute Ayoub El Kaabi scored a sensational bicycle kick to seal the win and send the home crowd into a frenzy.
