Just a hour’s to the historical honoring of the celebrated Ugandan Victoria pearls retired Star Naomi Kayondo Bagenda hung up the gloves and drop the bat after 23 years of the industrious cricket career, the iconic All- rounder will took to the Oval one last time for a farewell match between Naomi Kayondo Select team and the Selected side of the participants from OBs ,former teammates and Colleagues.

The event that will happen tomorrow at Lugogo Cricket oval at 1 pm on Saturday September 14, like a proper testimonial Cricket match should, brought together some of the best players in Uganda ‘from Naomi’s generation’ plus the current crop of upcoming stars.
The Ugandan Cricketer, Sports administrator and former Skipper U19 and Uganda women’s national cricket team, 23 years ago in 2002 at the Mighty Hill – Kings’ College Budo, Naomi Kayondo Bagenda started playing the elite sport of cricket as Senior One student were taught the basics of this game who initially started her career as a wicket Keeper.

The right-handed batter in 2009 captained the first U-19 Girls Uganda Team to the East Africa Tournament in Tanzania,Dara salaam and were emerged the Champions.
Naome Kayondo made her Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I) debut for Uganda against Kenya in the 2019 Victoria Tri-Series on April 6, 2019 at the age 12 years and holds record of the youngest player to feature in the Uganda national women’s team.

She was part of the Ugandan team that won the African Championship in August 2018 in Namibia and In the 2025 Leica Women’s T20 League, Naomi Kayondo was recognized as the best batter, scoring three half-centuries.Dara saleem were Uganda emerged Champions.

In 2014 Naomi Won the Cricket Uganda National 40 Over league with WanderersCC and was named the best Batter and also played his trademark on international stage in united kingdom at Plumtree CC and Bingham CC and she last feature for Victoria pearls in the 2025 Kwibuka cup against Rwanda.
