KCCA seek redemption in do-or-die clash with SC Villa

KCCA FC’s trip to Kadiba today is more than just a football match — it is a test of pride, resilience, and redemption.

After surrendering a 2-1 advantage to SC Villa in the first leg at Lugogo, the Cityzens now enter hostile territory, fully aware that only a two-goal cushion will guarantee safe passage to the semi-finals of the FUFA Super 8. The stakes are high, and the margins razor-thin.

For the coaching duo of Brian Ssenyondo and Jackson Magera, the clash is less about tactics and more about character. A single-goal win won’t be enough due to the away goals rule, meaning their men must dig deep and fight beyond the ordinary to overturn the deficit.

Unlike KCCA, Villa arrives at the return leg in a more comfortable position. The Jogoos carry both a numerical advantage and the backing of their fervent supporters at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba. Their mission will be simple: frustrate KCCA’s attacking surges and punish mistakes when they come.

Yet, despite their precarious situation, KCCA carries renewed optimism. The return of several key players from national duty — including Herbert Achayi and Gavin Kizito — injects steel into the squad. New faces such as Enock Walusimbi and Rogers Mugisha could also provide the spark needed to inspire a turnaround.

Midfielder Ashraf Mugume, who has been battling an ankle injury, made a surprise return to light training this week, raising hopes of featuring. Meanwhile, long-serving goalkeeper Charles Lukwago has been declared fit and may start between the sticks in what promises to be a high-intensity contest.

If KCCA succeed, they will set up a tantalizing semi-final against BUL FC on Sunday night at Lugogo. Failure, however, will relegate them to a placement clash with Maroons FC, a scenario few in the camp want to even consider.

For KCCA, this is more than a quarterfinal. It is about reclaiming lost ground, restoring belief, and proving that setbacks at home can fuel comebacks on the road.
