Hassan Alwi Jr. has sent a clear statement: he’s ready to be crowned this year’s Uganda National Rally Champion.
The championship leader won the EMC Soroti-Katakwi Rally on Saturday, taking his third NRC victory of the season and stretching his lead at the top of the standings.

Driving a Ford Fiesta Proto, Alwi posted a total time of 01:13:17.4 across the 136.02km of competitive stages in Soroti, Amuria and Katakwi. With Musa Nsubuga on the notes, he was fast and clean on Teso’s dusty, unfamiliar roads.
Moses Lumala finished second, also in a Ford Fiesta Proto, just 23 seconds behind.
Jonas Matayo Kansiime came home third in a Mitsubishi Evo 8 with a total time of 01:16:00.8.

It’s the first time a national rally has been held in Teso, and with zero prior pace notes, Alwi’s control and pace made the difference.
The NRC now heads to the Rwenzori region in September for Round 5.
With the win, Alwi takes a big step toward the long-awaited national title he’s been chasing.
