South Sudan champions Jamus SC pulled off a resounding statement victory at the Kigali Pele Stadium, defeating Tanzanian outfit Singida Black Stars 2-0 in the third matchday of the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup.
Jamus SC caught the Tanzanian side off guard early on when Lawrent Ramazani broke the deadlock in the 11th minute with a stunning, picture-perfect free-kick.
Singida Black Stars pushed for an equalizer, but Jamus maintained a disciplined defensive structure while remaining lethal on the break. Deep into second-half stoppage time, Mario Taban Cherelino put the game beyond reach in the 95th minute, rising unmarked in the box to direct a powerful header home and secure all three points for the South Sudanese side.
Shortly after the games Jamus SC head, Saber Ben Jabria told the media that, “I thank the players. They did their best. We used our chances well…”
While his counterpart, David Ouma (Head Coach, had this to say, “we tried to play well but there were loopholes, but we will get back strong for the two remaining games.”
Singida Black Stars Captain admitted they had a bad day in office before promising their fans that the team will go back to the drawing board and come back strong, “losing is part of football. We lost today and it’s not the end. We will go back, organize ourselves, and come back better.”

The result adds further drama to a high-scoring round of fixtures in Kigali.
Gor Mahia (Kenya) 5-0 APR FC (Rwanda): Kenya’s Gor Mahia delivered a masterclass performance, dismantling Rwandan giants APR FC in a dominant display. Uganda’s representatives Vipers SC also eased past Djibouti’s Garde Republicaine with a commanding 3-0 victory to keep their campaign on firm ground.
The tournament, which is sponsored by Rwanda president, Paul Kagame continues and will end early next month. The winner will.walk home with over UGX90 millions.
