A new chapter was written in Ugandan school sports history as Buddo Secondary School captured their first-ever national netball title at the Tororo Girls School grounds, with the majestic Tororo Rock standing tall in the backdrop.
On Thursday, a passionate crowd witnessed a high-stakes showdown between two long-time Wakiso rivals Buddo SS and netball giants St Mary’s Kitende in a gripping final that delivered drama, tension, and unforgettable moments.
Buddo SS edged the encounter 29-27 in a nail-biting contest that had fans on their feet from start to finish. It was a display of tactical precision and relentless determination, with every pass, interception, and shot carrying immense weight. The atmosphere was electric, the cheers deafening with each successful goal.
The victorious squad featured standout players including Sayda Shamim Shaban (GA), Fortunate Kizito (GS), Faimah Namulinda (GK), and Agnes Nairuba (C), who steered Buddo to a long-awaited triumph. Their effort mirrored the school’s earlier success in boys’ football earlier this year, cementing Buddo’s growing reputation as a rising force in Ugandan school sports.
As the team prepares to return home, celebrations are expected on the iconic Buddo hill, where the school community will honor their champions.
