BUL FC will be determined to finally break their winless run against Mbarara City when the two sides meet at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
For the Eastern Giants, encounters with the Ankole Lions have proved frustrating in recent years. Their last victory in this fixture dates back to 2021, when Ibrahim Nsimbe’s solitary goal secured a narrow 1-0 triumph. Since then, BUL have failed to get the better of their opponents in six meetings.
One of the most painful results in that run came in 2024 when Mbarara City cruised to a 2-0 victory, courtesy of a brace from Seiri Arigumaho. Interestingly, the forward has since switched sides and now features for BUL, setting up a reunion with his former teammates.
Arigumaho is expected to play a key role in attack alongside Karim Ndugwa and Jerome Kiirya as the hosts search for the goals needed to end the drought.
BUL currently sit eighth on the Uganda Premier League table with 29 points and will be keen to climb higher in the standings. Mbarara City, on the other hand, are fighting for survival and remain deep in the relegation zone with just 13 points.
When the two teams last met earlier in the season, the contest ended in a 1-1 draw after Ian Amanya equalised for BUL following Arigumaho’s opener.
