A depleted Police FC side will battle to keep their momentum when they take on NEC FC in a Uganda Premier League fixture at the Kira Road Playground in Kamwokya today.
The Cops head into the match without several key players, leaving head coach Matia Lule with limited options. Midfielders Otto Daniel, Ivan Eyamu, Jemba Abud Shakur Ramsey and Kizito Ryan Figo are all sidelined with injuries, while Benon Tahomera is suspended after picking up three yellow cards. Derrick Maviiri is also unavailable as he continues to regain match fitness.
However, there is some good news for the hosts with defender Deus Bukenya returning to the squad after recovering from injury.
Despite the absentees, Police approach the encounter in high spirits following their narrow 1-0 victory over SC Villa in their previous outing, a result sealed by Lawrence Tezikya’s strike. The win came amid controversy after Villa had a goal ruled out for offside, a decision that sparked debate.

NEC FC are also grappling with their own injury concerns ahead of the clash. Jacob Okao, Joseph Dhata, Joseph Sseremba, Hudson Mbalire and Emmanuel Ajo are among the players expected to miss the match.
The contest could have a significant impact on the mid-table standings. Police currently occupy sixth place with 35 points, holding a four-point advantage over NEC who sit seventh.
When the two sides met earlier in the season at Lugogo, the match produced late drama as NEC squandered a two-goal lead in the final minutes, allowing Police to snatch a 2-2 draw through goals from Charles Bbaale and Umar Kasumba.
