BUL to miss out six key players against Garuga stars in Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 64

The Eastern Giants start their 2024 Stanbic Uganda Cup campaign against Garuga Stars FC today Sunday in the Round of 64.

BUL FC will be without the services of Walter Ochora, Joel Mutakubwa, and Nicholas Mwere, who are currently on national duty. Reagan Kalyowa and Ramz Kawooya are out injured and will miss the match. Pascal Ngobi will undergo a late fitness test to determine his availability for the match.

BUL FC prepares to take on the challenge of the Stanbic Uganda Cup, they reflect on their recent history in the competition. The Eastern Giants have consistently shown resilience and determination in the Uganda Cup.

In the 2020/2021 season, they lost to Vipers SC in the final at FUFA technical center Njeru. However, they bounced back in the 2021/2022 season, claiming the trophy with a thrilling victory over Vipers SC in Masindi.

Although they were eliminated by Police FC in the quarter finals of the 2022/2023 season, they regrouped and pushed forward. Last season (2023/2024), they made it to the semi finals, where they were narrowly edged out by NEC FC.

On another side Garuga Stars FC, have had an impressive run in the competition so far. Playing in the 4th division of Wakiso district, Garuga Stars commenced this year’s journey with a brave performance, coming from a goal down to win 2-1 at home against Kiyinda Young in the first game of the preliminary round. They went on to win 2-0 away at Free Stars in Mukono, smiled past Synergy (2-1) away, and qualified to the round of 64 following a hard-fought home 1-0 victory over Kira United. It’s clear that Garuga Stars are a force to be reckoned with, and they are looking forward to a thrilling match.
