Uganda cranes head coach, Paul Put says he was impressed by his troops after they secured a late win over Burundi as the two teams faced off on Sunday at Hamz Stadium in the return leg of the 2024 African Nations Champions (CHAN) Qualifiers.
Substitute Hakim Kiwanuka scored the lone goal of the game at the death of the clock with his deflected strike heading goal-way.
Put while speaking to rora Media revealed that, “I am happy despite the little time we had to prepare for these matches.”
“If we are to be honest, we saw improvement in maturity and also improvement in the way of playing. I am happy for the clean sheets over the two legs. We created more chances today and our way of play was much better.”
“The two narrow victories highlighted areas for improvement and what I saw today at least they performed well.”

The win ensured Uganda ending Burundi’s hopes of reaching the upcoming CHAN finals on a 2-0 aggregate.
