The fourth round of the National Rally Championship, the Bugerere Stabex EMC Rally, is set to take place this weekend, July 10-12, and it’s shaping up to be an exciting event. A record 52 entries have been registered, featuring some of Uganda’s best rally drivers, including Ponsiano Lwakataka, Ronald Ssebuguzi, Yasin Nasser, Duncan Mubiru ‘Kikankane’, Musa Ssegaabwe, Ibrahim Lubega ‘Pasuwa’ among others.
Rally Details
The rally will take place over two days, with the following stages:
- Day 1: July 11
- 111.74 km of rally program, with 66.26 km of competitive stages will be done
- Stages: Segamu 14 Consult (18.90 km), KCB Bank (25 km), Nile River (8.72 km), and IUEA Super Special Stage (2.46 km)
- Day 2: July 12
- 175.72 km of rally program, with 88.20 km of competitive stages will be done
- Stages: Stabex Stage (15 km, repeated twice and serving as the Power Stage), Hon. Lugoloobi Stage (21.60 km, repeated twice)
A Return for Night Stages
This event will have a night section which will cover a 12 km distance, concluding the event’s day one itinerary in Jinja. The last night stage on the Ugandan rally scene was way back in 2016 during the SMC Masaka Rally, which was won by Posiano Lwakataka. Although there was an attempt to revive night stages last year during the UMC Fort Portal Rally, drivers opposed it due to safety concerns and challenging conditions.
Current Standings
The 2025 National Rally Championship is currently led by Ronald Ssebuguzi with 142 points, followed closely by Musa Ssegaabwe (132.5 points) and Ponsiano Lwakataka (117 points). The drivers will be competing on challenging roads, vying for crucial points in the championship.
