In a significant development for Kitara FC, Deo Kasozi has stepped down from his role as club president, marking the end of a highly successful chapter in the club’s recent history.
According to reports, Gilbert Nyiaka has been appointed as the interim president, taking over the reins as the club prepares for the upcoming season and continental competition.
Kasozi’s departure comes after three transformative seasons at the helm of Kitara FC. Under his leadership, the Hoima-based club experienced a remarkable rise, both on and off the pitch.

His tenure will be most remembered for steering Kitara to its first major silverware, clinching the prestigious Uganda Cup in the 2023/2024 season.
The triumph not only added a historic trophy to the club’s cabinet but also earned Kitara the opportunity to represent Uganda in the CAF Confederation Cup, a monumental milestone in the club’s journey.
Earlier, Kasozi had overseen Kitara’s dominant campaign in the 2022/2023 FUFA Big League, where the team emerged champions and secured promotion back to the Uganda Premier League, reaffirming their position among the country’s football elite.
Beyond the trophies, Kasozi is credited with bringing stability, ambition, and a clear vision to the club, helping to establish a strong administrative and technical foundation that continues to attract top talent and inspire passionate support from fans in the Bunyoro region and beyond.
As Kitara FC now transitions into a new phase under interim leadership, fans will be eager to see whether the club can maintain the momentum built during Kasozi’s era especially as they prepare to compete on the continental stage for the first time in their history.
More details on the club’s future direction, including potential permanent leadership appointments, are expected in the coming weeks.
