SC Villa turned a lightning-fast start into maximum reward, edging Lugazi FC 1-0 in a tense Uganda Premier League clash in Najjembe.

The visitors needed just three minutes to make their mark, with Frank Ssebufu reacting quickest to a loose ball and delicately lifting it over advancing goalkeeper Allan Batali. The goal shifted the rhythm of the contest early, forcing Lugazi to chase.

Despite creating a handful of chances to extend their lead—Ssebufu and Aslam Ssebufu both going close—Villa couldn’t find a second goal, leaving the contest finely balanced. Lugazi nearly punished them before the break, but David Lukwago produced a crucial save to preserve the advantage.

After halftime, Villa adopted a more disciplined approach, soaking up pressure and frustrating the hosts to protect their slender lead. The result strengthens their push near the top of the table, lifting them to third place on 48 points.

For Lugazi, the defeat leaves them hovering just above the relegation zone, with work still to do to secure their top-flight status.
