It has been nearly four years since the National Rally Championship was hosted in Kayunga District. This year, the district is ready to host it back as the fourth round of the 2025 season calendar is confirmed to take place in the region.

The NRC fourth round, will be organized by the Eastern Motor Club. According to the club president, Kees Kagolo, the two days event will run on the weekend of July 10th-12th with day one running in Jinja before crews heading to Kayunga (Ntenjeru North) for day two.

“The support from the minister, Amos Lugoloobi has enabled the club to extend the rally route to Kayunga. We lost most of our sponsors during the COVID-19 pandemic and most of the businesses are struggling to recover. So when you get sponsorship, as a club, you must take up the opportunity,” said Kagolo.

“Away from the support, the area is also safer because we found a good number of closed routes,” Kagolo added.

According to Clerk of the Course, Jackson Sserwanga, two sections will be done in Jinja while Kayunga will host the other four.

Ronald Ssebuguzi leads this year’s championship with 142 points closely followed by Musa Ssegaabwe on 132.5 points. Ponsiano Lwakataka lies in third with 117 points as Duncan Mubiru ‘Kikankane’ (115), Didas Masiko (112), Yasin Nasser (110) and Sodo Aine Kaguta on 102.5 points follow.
