Five-time Masaza Cup champions Gomba Lions have officially unveiled Felix Ssekabuza Kawooya as their head coach ahead of the 2026 Masaza Cup. The unveiling ceremony took place at Green View Gardens and Restaurant in Kanoni, Gomba.
The highly regarded tactician returns to Gomba with a wealth of experience, having recently guided Buwekula to their maiden Masaza Cup title after a 1-0 victory over Singo in the final at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.

Ssekabuza replaces Simon Dungu, who was in charge during the previous edition. His return marks a homecoming, as he previously helped Gomba secure two Masaza Cup titles—first in 2014 as assistant to Shafiq Bisaso, and later in 2020 as head of the technical team.
He now takes over a Gomba side looking to bounce back after a disappointing run in the last two campaigns, where they failed to progress beyond the group stage.
In 2022 masaza cup edition, Ssekabuza—alongside Simon Peter Mugerwa—played a key role in guiding Busiro to their first-ever Masaza Cup triumph, defeating Buddu 2-1 in the final at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

Over the years, Ssekabuza has also worked with Ssingo, Busujju, and Kyaggwe, further cementing his reputation as one of the most experienced coaches in the competition.
He will be assisted by Davis Nnono as first assistant coach and Kizito Alex as second assistant coach.
Gomba Lions remain one of the most successful teams in Masaza Cup history, having won the championship in 2004, 2009, 2014, 2017, and 2020.
