Former motorcross rider, Isabella Blick is among the 25 Uganda U17 Women’s National Football Team (Teen Cranes) players that will continue preparing for the CAF qualifier to the FIFA U17 Women World Cup tie against Namibia.
The team was trimmed down by Coach Sheryl Botes Ulanda from 39 players that had been summoned to start preparations and entered residential camp at the FUFA Technical Centre Njeru on Wednesday.

Isabella, a midfielder with Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC, shifted to football from motorcross in 2021 after Covid -19 hitting the country causing the lockdown on both sports and economy. Covid -19 aside, wrangles in the Federation of Motorsports clubs of Uganda (FMU) might also have led to her change in the sport.

Speaking about the players left in the camp, Botes expressed satisfaction with the level of fitness and how the players have adhered to instructions.
“The players have really been positive since we arrived here. We are going to keep organizing video sessions so we explain to them what we want them to do so that they have it in their minds. They know what is at stake now and what we are up against and we are constantly giving them the confidence and belief that beating Namibia is attainable and that it is a collective effort not individual,” she said.

Even though both games will be played at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, Namibia will be hosting the first leg on Thursday, January 16 while the return leg will come three days later. The winner on aggregate will face Kenya at the second qualification phase.
