Uganda’s sandy pitches are set to come alive again as the FUFA Beach Soccer League gears up for its 16th season, promising fresh battles, new venues, and a chance for rising stars to leave their mark.

The 2025/26 campaign officially gets underway on Sunday, October 12, ushering in a new chapter for a sport that continues to grow in fan appeal and competitive edge. While the club licensing exercise is already in motion, all eyes are on the competition’s possible host venues. Bamboo Gardens in Kasanje, Serenity Sports Oasis in Busega, and Bunjako Beach in Buwama are the three sandy arenas vying to stage the spectacle.

Ten teams will take to the sand this year, among them familiar heavyweights like MS Sand Lions, St. Lawrence University, MUBS, Mutoola BSC, and defending champions Kampala City. The champions are expected to be tested by a field that also includes Wolves, Buganda Royal Institute, Mengo Hill, Grace Church, and Muteesa I Royal University. Absent, however, are Kiringente BSC and Kampala Junior Team, both relegated last season after failing to finish the campaign.

But before the league ball is even kicked, fans will be treated to the Super Four Beach Soccer Tournament, a curtain-raiser that has become a tradition in Ugandan beach soccer. Scheduled for Sunday, September 28 at Bunjako Beach, this fifth edition pits the previous season’s top four sides against each other. Kampala City, who lifted the trophy last year, will battle MUBS, Mutoola BSC, and two-time winners St. Lawrence University in what promises to be a high-energy preview of the season ahead.

More than just dates and fixtures, this season holds the promise of reinvention — for clubs looking to challenge Kampala City’s dominance, for players eager to seize the spotlight, and for venues seeking to establish themselves as the heart of Ugandan beach soccer. The sand is ready, the countdown is on, and anticipation is building for another thrilling ride by the lakeshore.
