Uganda Premier League (Today, 5pm)
URA v Buhimba
URA FC’s preparations for Wednesday’s Uganda Premier League clash with Buhimba United Saints have taken a dramatic turn after the club confirmed the exit of head coach Alex Isabirye barely 24 hours before kickoff. The announcement, which also saw his entire backroom staff relieved of their duties, has forced the Tax Collectors into an abrupt reset at a crucial stage of the season.

Isabirye leaves after 17 months at the helm, during which he oversaw 36 games, collecting 17 victories and steering URA through a period of rebuilding. But recent results highlighted by last weekend’s 2–1 loss to KCCA deepened frustrations around the club’s stagnating form and accelerated the decision to part ways.
Into the void steps the familiar figure of Edward Golola, a battle-tested tactician who has seen almost everything Ugandan football can offer. Initially brought in as an assistant, Golola now finds himself leading the team on an interim basis as URA search for a permanent replacement.
The veteran coach wasted no time outlining his approach, insisting that the squad already has what is needed to turn the season around if they execute the basics.

“We shall win this game if we can do these three things,” Golola said. “Perfect our techniques such as passing and heading, work together both with and without the ball, and above all follow instructions.”
That sense of clarity will be crucial. URA have managed only eight points from seven league matches, a return far below expectations for a club that consistently positions itself among the league’s elite. Wednesday’s fixture now becomes the first test of whether the coaching overhaul can spark improved performances.
With the managerial seat unexpectedly vacant and their season delicately poised, the Tax Collectors enter the Buhimba duel with a mix of uncertainty and renewed purpose. For Golola, this is a chance to steady the ship. For the players, it is an opportunity to prove that the shake-up can be the catalyst for a fresh beginning.
