Kitende, Uganda – The dream of a home-soil final for the Uganda U15 Girls team was shattered after a heart-wrenching defeat in the semi-finals of the CAF African Schools Football Championship CECAFA Qualifiers.
In a tense showdown that ended goalless after full-time, the hosts fell to a resilient Ethiopia side, losing 3-2 in a dramatic penalty shootout.

The Agony of the Shootout
Despite dominating periods of the game and showcasing the attacking flair that saw them through the group stages, the young Ugandan side could not find the breakthrough goal against a well-organized Ethiopian defense.
The penalty lottery, often cruel, swung the way of the visitors, who maintained their composure to clinch their maiden final berth.

The defeat was a bitter pill to swallow for the Ugandan youngsters, who have impressed the home crowd throughout the tournament.
“It’s tough to lose that way, but I am incredibly proud of the fight the girls showed. They gave everything they had on the pitch. Now, we must refocus immediately. Our tournament goal is still within reach,” a member of the technical team told Rora Media.

The Continental Mission Continues
While Ethiopia advances to the final to face Tanzania, who defeated Burundi 2-0 in the other semi-final, the journey to the continental finals is not over for the Ugandan side!
The Ugandan girls now enter a high-stakes third-place playoff against Burundi. This is a winner-takes-all match, with the victor securing the third and final CECAFA spot at the CAF Africa Schools Championship finals next year.

Eyes on the Bronze: A Must-Win Clash
The stage is set for a monumental battle for Bronze
The Uganda U15 Girls must dust themselves off, forget the semi-final heartbreak, and channel their energy into one final push.
They hope the nation will be behind them as they take on Burundi, knowing that a win is the key to flying the Ugandan flag to the continental championship next year.
Both the final and third playoff games are scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday at St. Marys Stadium Kitende
