Platinum Credit Heathens are entering a new chapter as Desire Mugumisa assumes the role of chairman for the next two years, taking charge of Uganda’s most decorated rugby club. The move signals a shift toward modernization, wider fan engagement, and strategic growth both on and off the field.
Under Mugumisa’s leadership, the club plans to expand its reach beyond traditional supporters, tapping into new markets and reshaping its image. The focus is on creating an inclusive environment that attracts young players, new fans, and sponsors while preserving the legacy of one of the country’s most successful rugby institutions.

The Kyadondo Rugby Club-based side has already strengthened its squad, bringing in players including David Wako, Aaron Atoke, Jason Nuwamanya, Emma Odoi, Yusuf Waiswa, and Matthew Musasizi. These additions aim to reinforce both performance on the pitch and the club’s brand identity.
Beyond team building, the new administration is exploring avenues to increase the club’s overall value, enhance commercial opportunities, and leverage the untapped potential of fans who have historically been excluded. The strategy reflects a broader vision for Heathens to thrive in a modern sports landscape where engagement, inclusivity, and innovation are key to long-term success.
The club’s executive team under Mugumisa includes Emmanuel Muhangi as secretary, Martin Namutso as treasurer, Lucy Ssuubi handling media, commercial, and advertising, and Edward Kiwanuka representing the fans. Together, they are poised to navigate a transformative period aimed at securing continued excellence and building a sustainable future for the Platinum Credit Heathens.
