The finish was worth a welcome as it came with a podium, P3 in particular. The crew has had two consecutive failed attempts before.

The crew to end this jinx, passed through a super rally after a broken front left arm they got with 8km left to the fly finish of the 31.4km Camp Moran1 stage.

Yasin and Katumba first drove the event in 2021 and thereafter followed by 2024. In 2021, the crew exited the event on leg two with an engine failure before seeing all their efforts disappear when they rolled the Ford Fiesta rally2 ‘NEMO’ in SS7, Kedong stage.

Yasin who finished 18th overall, got a podium in sa fariy. We definitely desired a finish at the Safari, to break the jinx, and get decent African Rally Championship points,” Nasser exclaimed.

“The car was still responding well, and yes, here we are now.”

Yasin now stands third on the 2025 FIA African Rally Championship with 15 points. They are now looking forward to a strong performance in the upcoming Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally, scheduled for May 2025.
