Kitara FC produced a confident and composed performance at Royals Park in Butema, Hoima, dispatching Maroons FC 2–0 to climb to third place on the Uganda Premier League table with 19 points. Maroons, who struggled to convert their late pressure into goals, stayed eighth on 12 points. KCCA remains top with 20 points just second second placed SC Villa.
Patrick Kaddu was the star of the afternoon, striking twice in the first half to put Kitara firmly in control. His opener arrived inside the first minute—an expertly timed header from Edward Tala’s delivery—setting the tone for a dominant Kitara start.
The hosts maintained the momentum, controlling large spells of the opening half despite Maroons’ intermittent threat from set pieces. Kaddu doubled the advantage in the 34th minute after linking up with Frank “Zaga” Tumwesigye, who sliced open the Maroons backline with a clever assist.
A brief injury scare followed for Kaddu, but the striker returned after treatment and continued to influence the game on both ends of the pitch.

The second half saw Maroons attempt a spirited fightback, making multiple substitutions and testing goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige with a series of efforts. Kitara, however, remained disciplined, clearing danger whenever necessary and slowing down Maroons’ rhythm.
Kibirige and Jimmy Kalema came up big with crucial clearances and saves in the final quarter-hour, frustrating the visitors’ attempts to stage a comeback.
Despite Maroons enjoying late control and applying heavy pressure, Kitara’s defensive structure held firm until the final whistle.
The victory keeps Kitara firmly in the title conversation, while Maroons will lament missed chances and their slow start that left them chasing the game from the first minute.
