The battle lines have been officially drawn in Kigali! The CECAFA Kagame Cup groups are locked in, and if you are a Ugandan, you better strap yourselves in. Uganda’s representatives, Vipers SC , are staring down the barrel of an absolute blockbuster after being drawn into what is universally being hailed as the tournament’s “Group of Death.”

The Venoms will have to lace up their boots for a grueling tactical war in Group A, where they have been pooled alongside some of the absolute heavyweights of East and Central African football.

Vipers SC will not have any time to ease into the tournament. They share Group A with Rwandan powerhouse and tournament hosts APR FC, Kenyan Premier League giants Gor Mahia, and Djibouti’s FC Garde Républicaine.

For the Venoms, every single matchday will feel like a cup final. Facing APR on their own turf in Kigali is already one of the steepest mountains to climb in regional football. Add in a fierce, historic cross-border rivalry with Kenya’s K’Ogalo (Gor Mahia), and Group A transforms into an absolute pressure cooker. If Vipers want to book a spot in the knockout stages, they will have to show elite championship grit right from the opening whistle.

Group B:
While Vipers fight it out in the Group A trenches, Group B promises its own brand of tactical fireworks. Tanzanian giants Simba SC headline the group and will face off against a highly ambitious Singida Black Stars side in what promises to be a fiery all-Tanzanian affair.

Joining them are South Sudan’s Jamus SC and Somalia’s Mogadishu City Club, both looking to cause a massive upset and crash the Tanzanian party.

Group C:
Host nation Rwanda boasts double representation in the groups, with Rayon Sports FC anchoring Group C.

Gikundiro will rely heavily on their passionate fan base in Kigali as they welcome Sudanese titans Al-Hilal Omdurman, Kenya’s Tusker FC, and Zanzibar’s KVZ FC.

With Al-Hilal’s continental pedigree and Tusker’s physical, resilient brand of football, Group C is a completely unpredictable tactical puzzle.

The stage is set, the lights are bright, and regional football supremacy is up for grabs, starting 24th July to 8th August.
