Kitara FC edged BUL FC 1–0 in a tense Uganda Premier League contest at Royal Park in Butema, Hoima, on Thursday evening, with Jimmy Kalema’s early strike proving enough to seal maximum points.

The hosts started brightly, forcing BUL goalkeeper Farouk Yawe into two early saves before Kalema broke the deadlock in the 11th minute, finishing clinically to send the home fans into celebration. BUL’s response was instantly complicated when defender Tah Barni, already on a yellow, was sent off in the 28th minute after a second bookable offence.

Despite playing with 10 men for over an hour, BUL kept themselves in the game and enjoyed spells of possession, but they struggled to find a breakthrough against a composed Kitara backline marshalled by Murushid Juuko who was also booked in the first half.

Kitara created the better chances after the interval, but BUL goalkeeper Yawe kept his side alive with a pair of superb saves midway through the second half. The visitors later threw on attacking options, including Alex Kitata and Isaac Wagoina, but Kitara remained disciplined, slowing down the game and managing key moments effectively.

Patrick Kaddu, Frank “Zaga” Tumwesigye, and later John Byaruhanga all influenced proceedings for the hosts, while substitute Amir Kakomo helped Kitara see out the final minutes.
