KCB Bank unveils Pearl Rally team as 2010 national champion joins

The 2010 Uganda National Rally Champion, Nasser Mutebi as joined the KCB Bank Rally team ahead of the 2025 Pearl of Africa Rally Championship.

In the Ugx 167 million package sponsorship unveiled today at the KCB Bank Head Office at Lohana Towers, Lugogo Bypass, KCB confirmed that Mutebi will team up with other Ugandans in Michael George Mukula Jr. and Oscar Ntambi alongside Kenyan Karan Patel and Nahkil Sachania to strengthen their push for victory in this year’s campaign.

“I promise to keep the KCB Bank flag high with good results in the Pearl Rally. Am using amore powerful machine this time round (Mitsubishi Evo 10) instead of the usual Evo 9. God willing, we are coming back victorious,” Mutebi says.

The Managing Director KCB Bank Uganda, Edgar Byamah, emphasized the bank’s vision of fostering excellence in Ugandan sports.

“The Pearl of Africa Rally is more than just a race, it’s a celebration of skill, endurance, and the resilient spirit of Ugandan motorsport. We are proud to deepen our involvement in this iconic event, reaffirming our commitment to nurturing local talent and promoting Uganda’s potential on the regional and global stage,” he said.

Mukula, the other team driver appreciated KCB Bank saying, “We are honored to represent KCB Bank once again this year. Their support motivates us to focus on excellent performance, knowing that we have the full backing of a partner that believes in the growth of Ugandan motorsport.”

Yesterday, announced 80 million Uganda shillings sponsorship going to the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) to facilitate preparations and logistics. This has been topped up with 167 million Uganda shillings which will support the sponsored drivers totaling to a tune of 270 million towards the 2025 Pearl of Africa Rally.

The POAUR round will count towards the FIA African Rally Championship and four (4) other category championships including; the ARC Junior Drivers. Local crews will also vie for the National rally championship, 2WD, Clubman and the three division titles.

It is scheduled to take place in Mbarara City from 8th to 10th May 2025. It will be the first time that the ARC round is organized outside central Uganda. The event will have 11 sections covering a total distance of 486.26 km of which 298.16 km will be liaison as 188.10 km competitive.
