KCCA FC head into Yumbe with more than just three points on their minds, knowing victory over Calvary could significantly tighten the title race and keep leaders Vipers firmly within reach.

The Lugogo-based side has quietly rebuilt momentum at a crucial stage of the season, stringing together back-to-back wins against Kitara and Entebbe UPPC.

Those results have not only lifted them to 51 points but also eased the scrutiny around coaches Brian Ssenyondo and Jackson Magera, who now see their side rediscovering rhythm at the right time.

Despite heading into the contest as clear favourites, KCCA face a different Calvary outfit from the one they brushed aside 4-2 in the first round. The Yumbe-based side, still rooted at the bottom of the table, has shown renewed resilience in recent weeks, going three matches unbeaten and even grinding out a result away to Kitara in their latest outing.

That upturn in form adds an element of unpredictability to the tie, especially on home turf, where Calvary will be desperate to turn improved performances into a much-needed victory.

For KCCA, much will depend on their attacking trio of Ivan Ahimbisibwe, Said Mayanja and Shafik Nana Kwikiriza, whose sharpness in the final third could prove decisive. With the title race entering a defining stretch, any slip-up could prove costly, making this trip to Yumbe as tricky as it is important.
