Duncan ‘Kikankane’ Mubiru was the first causality of the Lumala @60 and Mum @90 Mbarara rally on Friday January 24, 2025 in Mbarara.
His Subaru Impreza caught fire after finishing the first stage of 14km and could not service to return to the spectator stage at Mwesigwa Rukaari Resort Hotel.
The drop out was a big blow to his target of winning the National rally championship this year 2025 given that he skipped last year without competing as his Ford Fiesta Proto was taken abroad for upgrading.
Mike Mukula who broke a suspension after stage one managed to repair and return for the super special stage and the same was to Musa Ssegaabwe who rolled in the same stage but managed to repair and returned to entertainment.

The rally started with 37 crews and will tomorrow ill see drivers compete in the two stages that will be repeated thrice.
The two-day event was today January 24, 2025 successful as it had no safety incidents.
The MPU Mbarara rally is in celebration of the rally legend Moses Lumala who celebrates 60 years of existences while his mother celebrating 90 years enjoying God’s oxygen.
The event is the opening round of the seven National Rally Championship events.
The other events are the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally, UMC rally in Fort Portal, CMC rally in Gulu, SMC rally in Masaka.
