Kitara FC are stepping up their mobilisation drive ahead of Saturday’s CAF Confederation Cup return leg against Mogadishu City Club, with the club giving supporters an extended opportunity to buy tickets at a reduced price.
The Bunyoro side has pushed the deadline for its early bird promotion to Friday, September 11, after the initial offer attracted a strong response from fans.
Ordinary tickets under the promotion will cost sh15,000, compared to the standard price of sh20,000. However, the discounted rate is only available to supporters purchasing physical tickets from designated sales points.
Kitara president Deo Kasozi said the decision to extend the promotion was driven by the enthusiasm shown by supporters when ticket sales opened.
“The fans have responded so well to the early bird tickets, so as a club we’ve decided to extend the sale until Friday,” Kasozi said.
The special-rate tickets can be obtained from the club offices on Main Street, opposite Stanbic Bank, as well as the supporters’ office in Kinubi along the Hoima-Kampala road.
Supporters who opt for VIP tickets will pay sh50,000, while ordinary tickets bought outside the early bird arrangement will remain at sh20,000. Online purchases will also be sold at the normal rates.
The ticket push comes as Kitara prepare to defend a slender advantage secured in the first leg in Mogadishu on September 6. Kitara won the away encounter 2-1 and will now be seeking another positive result at Hoima City Stadium to book a place in the second preliminary stage.
With the tie delicately poised, Kasozi has appealed to supporters across Bunyoro and other parts of the country to make their way to Hoima City Stadium for the 4pm kick-off.
The club is also taking the tickets closer to fans through a branded mobile van that will tour different parts of Bunyoro. The initiative is intended to cater for supporters who may not be able to travel to the club offices in Hoima before match day.
Kitara are expecting a strong home turnout, particularly after the first leg attracted 15,061 spectators in Mogadishu.
The club believes a packed Hoima City Stadium could provide an important boost as the team attempts to finish the job and continue its continental campaign.
Fans who prefer purchasing their tickets online can still do so, although the regular ticket charges will apply.
