Maroons FC completed a league double over Lugazi FC, registering a 1-0 narrow win on Friday evening at Najjembe stadium.
It should be noted that the reverse fixture between the two teams played last year at Luzira prison’s ground ended in a 1-0 win for Maroons FC.
The decisive goal came from a late penalty converted by substitute Brian Omirambe in the 89th minute, following a handball incident that also resulted in Lugazi’s defender, Gift Lubega, receiving a red card.
In today’s game, the Prison Warders put up a spirited performance to secure maximum points thanks to alone Strike from Abel Michael Eturude in the 19th minutes of the game.
This win marked the second victory for the Luzira side, were they had lost thrice and drawn two in the last seven games. Meanwhile, Lugazi FC has now suffered defeat in their last four matches.
The results takes Maroons FC to sixth place on 30 points. Lugazi FC on the other hand remained in 11th position on 26 points.
In thier next matches Maroons will host the Red Eagles at Luzira maximum prison on Saturday 5th April 2025 while Lugazi will visit the table leaders Vipers sports club on Thursday 3rd April .
