The 2025 Buganda Masaza Cup competition continued on Sunday with five thrilling matches played at various playgrounds.

Mawokota Edges Buweekula 2-1

In a hard-fought match at Buwama Ssaza ground, three-time champions Mawokota silenced Buweekula with a 2-1 victory.

Isingoma George’s brilliant free kick gave the hosts the lead, before he doubled the score with a beautiful tap-in. Although Buweekula’s substitute, Candia Beon, scored a late goal, Mawokota held on for the win as Isigoma was named Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.

Kyaggwe Powers Past Kooki 2-0

In the Masengere group, Kyaggwe registered a convincing 2-0 home win over Kooki at Bishop SS in Mukono. David Mugalu opened the scoring in the 20th minute, and Yosam Ssembalirwa sealed the victory. Kyaggwe’s Kato Julius was named Man of the Match for his impressive performance.

Other Match Day One Results

  • Busujju edged 2022 champions Busiro 1-0 in the Bulange group, with Lauben Lubwama scoring the winning goal and being named Man of the Match.
  • Asaph Mwebaze’s Mawogola defeated Butambala 1-0, with Ndugu Jabel’s lone strike securing maximum points.
  • Bugerere and Buvuma played out a 1-1 stalemate, with Ibrah Kasakya scoring for Buvuma and Osaman Mayanja equalizing for Bugerere.

Match Day Two Fixtures

The 2025 Airtel Masaza Cup will resume next weekend, July 7th to 8th, 2025. The tournament features 18 counties from the Buganda Kingdom, and teams will battle it out for the coveted trophy.
