Mbarara City fought back to earn a 1–1 draw against Calvary FC in a tense Uganda Premier League encounter played at the Midigo Primary School Play Ground in Yumbe on Saturday.
The Ankole Lions had to rally from behind after Ibrahim Dada converted a 55th-minute penalty to hand the hosts the advantage. The spot kick came after Peter Odeke was fouled in the area.
However, Mbarara City were level nine minutes later when Calvary defender Stephen Oriokot inadvertently turned the ball into his own net under pressure from the visitors’ attack.

The result means Mbarara remain second from bottom with seven points four ahead of basement side Calvary as both teams continue to struggle for form in the first round of the campaign.
Mbarara City’s Gaddafi Kacancu, who put in a commanding midfield performance, was named Man of the Match.
Despite late pressure from both sides, neither could find a breakthrough, and the points were shared in Yumbe.
