The 19 times Sudanese league champions, Al Merrikh yesterday evening announced Milutin Sredojevic Micho as their new technical director.

The Serbian tactician replaces Giovani Solinas who was sacked by the club on January 8th following a poor string of results. Micho, previously coached Sudanese Al Hilal (Al Merrikh’s rivals) in 2010/11.

The statement released read, “We are pleased to announce the appointment of coach Milutin Sredojevic as our new technical director.”

“With his wealth of experience and proven Sred track record, Coach Micho is expected to bring a fresh perspective and new energy to the team. His leadership and tactical expertise will undoubtedly enhance the team’s performance and drive success on the pitch,” read a statement from Al-Merreikh.

The Former Uganda Cranes coach will work with former SC Villa coach, Dusan Stojanovic and Frenchman Frank Berlin as Physical trainer, and Algerian Hajj Musa Bahilel as performance analyst.

Micho has been a free agent since September last year when he was relieved of his duties at the Libya national team.

The Sudanese giants Al Merrikh and Al Hilal currently compete in the Mauritanian Premier League due to a prolonged political unrest in Sudan.

Al Merrikh currently sit 10th on the table while Florent Ibenge’s coached Al Hilal are 6th on the log with six games in hand.
