The 2025 National Schools Badminton Tournament officially kicked off yesterday at Lugogo Indoor Arena, featuring over 33 schools.
The prestigious tournament, last held in 2019, will run from June 13 to 15, with participants competing in various age categories from U10 to U19.

A Boost for Young Athletes
The return of the National Schools Badminton Tournament is a significant milestone in Uganda’s badminton development, providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their talents. Defending champions Mbogo High School (girls) and Kakungulu Memorial (boys) will be looking to retain their titles.

Association’s Gratitude
The Badminton Association has expressed gratitude to the schools and sponsors, including Plascon, who financed the tournament. Assistant Secretary Joshua Muguluma said, “Many of our stars are made by this tournament.” He added that the tournament has been instrumental in discovering future stars, citing examples like Brian Kasirye, Tracy Naluwooza, and Shamika Fadila, who started from this tournament and went on to represent the country.
