Mutuba Mpigi 0-2 Mutuba Kammengo
The Mawokota Ssaza chief Owek Sarah Nannono yesterday officially opened the 4th edition of the Kayima cup at Mpigi Police ground were defending champions Mutuba 1 Mpigi was defeated by Mutuba Kammengo in the opening game.
Mutuba I Kammengo took the bragging rights in opener through Ibra Kigenyi and Muhaguzi Fred which eventually gave them the win. Muhaguzi was named the man of the match.
The event was graced by Owek Sarah Nannono (Mawokota Ssaza chief), Hon Hillary Kiyaga Hilderman, Hon Murungi Sharon Kaweesi and 2nd Mawokota Ssaza chief Owek Mujuzi Pizaro among others.
The chairman organizing committee Mwaja Solomon thanked all the various competitors that participated in different disciplines including football, Netball, Omweso, Tug of War and Ekijjo Kya Buganda this calling upon all the well-wishers and fans to came and support this year’s tournament.
The Kayima cup will return in gala format on 1st and 2nd March 2025 in two groups include Sseyeeya group at John Bosco ground in Katende and Mpokota group at Buwama community ground.
Sseyeeya group is composed of four teams; Mutuba 1 Mpigi, Mutuba Kiringente, Mutuba Kammengo and Sseyeeya Muduuma while Mpokota group has Musaale Buwama, Sebawali Nkozi and Sabuddu kituntu.
Owek. Sarah Nannono stated that, “These competitions are to prepare players for both Masaza Cup and Bika bya Baganda football tournaments and we believe by the end of the Kayima Cup we will be able to feed players to Mawokota Ssaza and top league clubs.”
