Kyambogo University continued their impressive start to the 2025/26 Pepsi University Football League season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Busitema University in a tense and closely contested encounter played at the Kyambogo Grounds.
The hosts, buoyed by their home crowd, showed determination and composure throughout the game, eventually breaking the deadlock in the 40th minute through forward Samuel Owori, who calmly slotted home after a well-worked build-up involving Cleopas Ayebale, whose perfectly timed assist unlocked the Busitema defense.
Despite Busitema’s spirited response in the second half, Kyambogo’s defense remained resolute, with goalkeeper Paul Owor pulling off several crucial saves to deny the visitors an equalizer. Busitema pressed hard in the closing stages, but Kyambogo’s discipline and organization ensured they preserved their narrow lead until the final whistle.
The win marks Kyambogo’s second consecutive victory of the campaign, following their 2–1 triumph over ISBAT University in the opening match. The result cements their position at the top of Group C with six points from two games, boosting their chances of progressing to the knockout stages.

Busitema, meanwhile, will take lessons from the narrow defeat as they look to regroup ahead of their next fixture. Despite creating several chances, their finishing let them down on the day, leaving them searching for their first points of the campaign.
With their perfect start, Kyambogo have now set the tone as one of the early favorites in the group, blending attacking flair with defensive discipline a combination that could make them serious contenders for this year’s title.
