The Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally (POAUR) is around the corner. Drivers are almost in the final touches of having their machines ready to attack the terrains of Western Uganda, Mbarara.

It being the second round of African Rally Championship (ARC), no one intending to win this prestigious championship will dare miss it on his cost.

Kenyan Karan Patel being the defending champion of both the ARC and POAUR, he has sounded a warning ahead of the 486.26 km three days event.

Given the DNF sustained in the first ARC round at the WRC Kenya Safari Rally, Patel he’s ready to show the speeds and skill he was cut short of when his car developed a mechanical problem during the Camp Moran stage which was a 32.20km and acted as stage three and seven.

“We’re definitely fired up for the Pearl Rally. After the DNF in Kenya, the whole team has been working flat out to ensure everything is in top shape car, crew, and strategy. We’re coming back stronger, hungrier, and more focused,” Patel expressed to Roramedia.

“Fans can expect an all-out push from us, we’re not holding back. We’ve learned from the setbacks, and we’re ready to fight for the win. I appreciate the support and looking forward to seeing everyone in Uganda!”

In 2023, Patel didn’t participate in the POAUR citing bad roads which were caused by the rainy season. Last he participated and won the event. He believes come rain come shine he’s ready for the battle.

“Ugandan routes always keep you on your toes and with the rain, it’s going to be even more interesting. But that’s part of the fun, right?”

“We’ve prepped the car for the conditions and the team’s feeling good. It’s all about staying sharp, reading the stages well, and keeping it clean where it counts. We’re ready to enjoy it and hopefully put on a good show for the fans,” the 2023 and 2024 African Rally Champion added.

The POAUR will run as the third Uganda National Rally Championship round. It will be done for three days with 11 sections covering a total distance of 486.26 km of which 298.16 km will be liaison as 188.10 km competitive.
